Trump, Netanyahu meeting at White House amid turmoil over tariffs

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is visiting the White House on Monday amid the continuing fallout from President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs plan, which has roiled global markets. Trump’s planned 17 percent levy on imports from Israel has the potential to send the country’s war-battered economy — including its critical technology sector — into a tailspin. Trump and Netanyahu are expected to take questions from the media in the Oval Office in the afternoon. A planned formal news conference has been canceled. In social media posts Sunday and Monday, Trump continued to defend his tariffs plan, calling it “a very beautiful thing.”
